# Firm Library

> Every kind of case your firm runs, as a template you can tailor

## Case templates

The **Firm Library** holds every kind of case your firm runs as a reusable template. Open one to tailor its forms, its document checklist, and its filing packet — your changes apply to every new matter of that type.

Templates are filtered by category, by the forms they file, and by status: **Lexfill default** or **Customized**. A customized template is badged, so you always know which ones your firm has changed.

## The document checklist

Each template lists what it asks people to provide, and each item is either **Required** or **If it applies** — toggle between them.

* **Add a document** from your other case types, or create one only your firm asks for.
* **Remove** anything you never ask for.
* **Reset to Lexfill default** discards your changes and restores the standard checklist.

The checklist drives the client's upload step during intake, the [document review](/guides/documents) queue, and packet readiness.

## Who answers what

Each form in a template can be split between the **client questionnaire** and the **attorney worksheet** — move a question across to change who answers it. Questions the client never should see (legal strategy, system fields) belong on the worksheet.

<Note>
  Question wording can't be edited — it's localized for clients across every
  [intake language](/guides/clients-and-intakes#intake-languages). What you
  control is which questions are asked, of whom.
</Note>

## Packet templates

Every case type's [filing packet](/guides/packets) is a template too:

* **Packet sections**, in assembly order — drag to reorder.
* **Instructions for Lex**, per section — your template language, the points you always make. Lex follows them when drafting and QA-checking that section.
* **Packet instructions**, firm-wide for that packet. `@mention` a teammate to route related tasks to them.
* **Letterhead** — logo position and whether the firm name appears, applied to every page Lex generates: cover letter, table of contents, notes.

Sections marked **Lex generates** are the ones drafted rather than assembled from files.

Reset a packet template to the Lexfill default at any time — it removes your ordering and instructions and nothing else.
