# Tasks

> Firm-wide task tracking with a list, board, and AI-created tasks

## Overview

The **Tasks** page is your firm's shared to-do list. Every member sees the same tasks, and each task can carry:

* **Status** — To do, In progress, or Done.
* **Priority** — Low, Medium, High, or Urgent.
* **Assignee** — any member of your firm.
* **Client** — optionally link a task to a client; linked tasks also appear on that client's **Tasks** tab.
* **Due date** — due tasks show up on the firm [calendar](/guides/calendar).

## Two views

Work the way you prefer:

* **List** — a sortable, filterable list for triage and bulk review.
* **Board** — a drag-and-drop kanban board; dragging a card between columns updates its status.

Clicking a task opens a detail modal to edit everything in place. Every task has a shareable deep link (`/tasks?task=…`) — paste it in a message to a teammate and it opens straight to that task.

## AI-created tasks

Lexfill creates tasks for you in three situations:

* **Review flags** — when the AI review of a completed intake finds something that needs attention, a task arrives pre-filled with context and linked to the right client, so review findings turn into trackable work instead of getting lost in a notification.
* **Deadline follow-ups** — Lex watches your upcoming case and invoice due dates and creates a reminder task for each deadline coming up within the next 30 days. Each deadline is reminded about once, the task's due date is the deadline itself, and your firm gets an in-app notification when the reminder lands.
* **Import follow-ups** — when you [create a client by uploading their documents](/guides/clients-and-intakes), Lexfill leaves a high-priority **Invite \<client> to Lexfill** task, plus one task per document it couldn't read. An import deliberately sends the client nothing, so this task is how the invitation actually happens: it's tagged **Import** and assigned to you, and you'll get both a task notification and an "import finished" notification so it can't be missed.

AI-created tasks carry an **Auto** badge and are collected under the **Auto** tab on the Tasks page.

## Client tasks

Tasks can also be assigned to the client (for example, "upload your passport"). Clients see these on the **Tasks** section of their [portal](/guides/client-portal), keeping both sides working from the same list.
