Overview

The Tasks page is your firm’s shared to-do list. Every member sees the same tasks, and each task can carry:
  • Status — To do, In progress, or Done.
  • Priority — Low, Medium, High, or Urgent.
  • Assignee — any member of your firm.
  • Client — optionally link a task to a client; linked tasks also appear on that client’s Tasks tab.
  • Due date — due tasks show up on the firm calendar.

Two views

Work the way you prefer:
  • List — a sortable, filterable list for triage and bulk review.
  • Board — a drag-and-drop kanban board; dragging a card between columns updates its status.
Clicking a task opens a detail modal to edit everything in place. Every task has a shareable deep link (/tasks?task=…) — paste it in a message to a teammate and it opens straight to that task.

AI-created tasks

Lex creates tasks for you in three situations:
  • Review findings — when the AI review of a completed intake finds something that needs attention, each finding arrives as a comment thread from Lex pinned to the exact field on the form PDF (every Lex comment carries a visible AI badge), and one task arrives pre-filled with context, linked to the right client, and counting the open threads — so review findings turn into trackable work instead of getting lost in a notification. Reply in a thread to discuss with your team, mention @Lex there to get one contextual answer back, and resolve the thread when it’s handled. (@Lex lives in those document comment threads — not in task comments.)
  • Deadline follow-ups — Lex watches your upcoming case and invoice due dates and creates a reminder task for each deadline coming up within the next 30 days. Each deadline is reminded about once, the task’s due date is the deadline itself, and your firm gets an in-app notification when the reminder lands.
  • Import follow-ups — when you create a client by uploading their documents, Lex leaves a high-priority Invite <client> to Lexfill task, plus one task per document it couldn’t read. An import deliberately sends the client nothing, so this task is how the invitation actually happens: it’s tagged Import and assigned to you, and you’ll get both a task notification and an “import finished” notification so it can’t be missed.
AI-created tasks carry an Auto badge and are collected under the Auto tab on the Tasks page. A Court Watch hearing that moves earlier also files a task to review the client’s payment plan, since the timeline just compressed.

Asking Lex for a task

You can also just say so: “remind me to file the RFE response Friday”, “mark T-42 done”, “push T-7 to Monday”, “reassign T-3 to Miguel”. Lex shows you what it’s about to create or change, and does it once you confirm — so the board stays a record of what you asked for. Mentioning a teammate with @ on a task notifies them.

Client tasks

Tasks can also be assigned to the client (for example, “upload your passport”). Clients see these on the Tasks section of their portal, keeping both sides working from the same list.
